TENDERS

Prefabworld Bali International © is bombarded with price inquiries for its Prefab Houses. Upon receipt of any inquiry based on the models shown on our website, we will e-mail our standard price list. However, we also regularly receive price inquiries not based on our standard models which bear all the marks of a "tender" or a "competitive bid procedure". In some cases an approximate quote is requested which very often needs to be based on drawings not made by us, whereas the prefab system does not fit or match our in-house standards. You may guess that the preparation of these quotations is very time-consuming. Needless to say, these generally large quotations are costly to prepare with a slim chance of winning the bid (the more contenders, the lower the possibility of becoming the successful bidder). In the event of quoting on drawings not matching our prefab system and submitting an approximate price we need to guess the details. Such may negatively influence the price and later become a hurdle during price negotiations.
It is also true that many developers and/or clients’ architects tend to request an approximate price for their project from a number of suppliers to be able to compare prices. The suppliers do the hard work by calculating the costs while the developer or architect enjoys his cup of coffee. There are no guarantees whatsoever for any supplier to be recalled. As a result they are too often simply left in the cold with another burden to their time spend.
In conclusion, we will only accept a request for a quotation, that is based on a tender, a competitive bid procedure or an approximate quote, provided we will be allowed to re-generate the drawings into our standard prefab system while our time spent on the preparation of these re-generation works will be reimbursed (*)
(*) A generally accepted procedure in the USA and Europe is where each bidder adds a pre-set percentage to their bid. The winner of the bid will pay the unsuccessful bidders for the cost incurred by them for the preparation of the bid. In conclusion: the client pays for the costs.
