General information
WHY CHOOSE PREFABWORLD BALI INTERNATIONAL?
Engineered in Bali. Crafted in Bali. Built for the World.
For more than 25 years, Prefabworld Bali International has combined modern architectural and structural engineering with the craftsmanship of experienced Balinese woodworkers.
Founded in 2001, our officially licensed company, P.T. Bali Woodworks, operates as both an architectural and engineering company and a wooden prefabricated-building manufacturer. Prefabworld Bali International is the division dedicated to national and international wooden-prefabrication projects.
We design, engineer and manufacture custom wooden buildings for clients around the world — from private homes and villas to resorts, restaurants, hotels, gazebos and specialist over-water structures.
Our objective is simple:
To manufacture a wooden building that is technically sound, carefully crafted, precisely prefabricated and practical to transport and assemble at its final destination.

25+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Experience matters when a wooden building has to travel thousands of kilometres before it reaches its final destination.
Since 2001, P.T. Bali Woodworks has designed and manufactured wooden prefabricated buildings for international clients and demanding environments.
Our experience includes buildings in tropical, cyclone and earthquake-prone regions, as well as specialist over-water structures. Our technical team has also accumulated decades of international structural-engineering experience in timber and other complex structures.
This experience allows us to anticipate problems before they become expensive problems on site.

WE ARE THE MANUFACTURER — NOT AN AGENT
One of the most important differences between Prefabworld and a simple prefab sales company is that we manufacture the wooden structure ourselves.
P.T. Bali Woodworks is an independent Indonesian company. Our wooden prefab units and their components are produced by our own team and professional woodworkers rather than being outsourced to another manufacturer.
This gives us direct control over:
• materials
• workmanship
• dimensions
• connections
• component quality
• prefabrication
• trial assembly
• finishing
• packing
• preparation for shipment.
When you deal with Prefabworld, you are dealing directly with the company responsible for the manufacture of your building.

DESIGN AND ENGINEERING UNDER ONE ROOF
A wooden prefab building is not simply a collection of attractive timber components.
It is a structural system.
Our architectural and engineering team can provide services from the initial study and planning stages through architectural design, structural engineering and preparation of plans and specifications.
For structural calculations we use STAAD Pro finite-element analysis, with calculations that can address two- and three-dimensional structures as well as structural forces, stresses, displacements and allowable deflections. Depending on the project and jurisdiction, calculations can be prepared with reference to applicable international standards and local requirements.
Where required, our engineering services can also address:
• foundations
• roof structures
• over-water structures
• structural connections
• earthquake considerations
• cyclone and high-wind conditions
• project-specific engineering requirements.
For projects requiring approval by a local authority, we can work together with the client's local architect or engineer and adapt the design and engineering documentation to the requirements of the relevant jurisdiction.

BUILT FOR DEMANDING ENVIRONMENTS
A building intended for Bali does not necessarily face the same conditions as a building intended for Hawaii, Australia, the Caribbean or another international destination.
Wind, earthquakes, humidity, rainfall, termites, foundations, local building regulations and transportation requirements can all influence the design.
Prefabworld has experience working with projects in demanding environmental conditions, including cyclone and earthquake areas. We have also developed specialist experience in over-water buildings, including piling and capping-beam structures.
We do not claim that any building can be made immune to the forces of nature.
Instead, our approach is to identify the relevant design conditions and engineer the structure accordingly.

TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP + MODERN ENGINEERING
Modern machinery is valuable.
But timber is also a natural material, and experienced craftsmen remain extremely important.
A significant proportion of our wooden-house components continue to be handmade by experienced Balinese carpenters. These craftsmen bring years of practical knowledge of timber, joints, shaping, fitting and finishing to the manufacturing process.
This craftsmanship is combined with:
Architectural design
Computer-aided drafting
Structural engineering
Finite-element analysis
Controlled prefabrication
Quality inspection
The result is not mass-produced timber.
It is engineered prefabrication combined with skilled craftsmanship.

THE CONNECTIONS MATTER
One of the most technically important — and frequently overlooked — aspects of a wooden prefab building is the connection between its components.
Timber naturally expands and contracts as temperature and moisture conditions change.
Those movements can affect bolts, screws and other connections if the design does not properly account for them.
Our engineering approach therefore pays particular attention to the behaviour of timber connections and the long-term structural integrity of the building.
This is one of the areas where decades of practical timber experience and engineering knowledge become particularly valuable.

RESPONSIBLE TIMBER SOURCING
We use timber obtained from government-monitored and controlled sources and state that the timber used in our buildings is accompanied by the appropriate official felling documentation.
Timber selection is not simply a question of appearance.
Species, strength, durability, moisture content, intended application, environmental conditions and local regulations all need to be considered when selecting the appropriate material for a project.
For international projects, timber documentation and export requirements can also be an important part of the preparation process.

CUSTOM DESIGN — NOT JUST A STANDARD KIT
Our experience is not limited to a catalogue of standard houses.
We manufacture:
• private residences
• villas
• bungalows
• two-storey houses
• hotels
• restaurants
• bars
• gazebos
• tree houses
• specialist timber structures
• over-water buildings
• custom architectural projects.
A client can work from one of our concepts, modify an existing design or provide an architect's design for development into a prefabricated timber structure.
For architects and developers, this means that Prefabworld can act not only as a house supplier, but as a specialist timber manufacturing and engineering partner.

INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE
Our buildings have been designed and manufactured for destinations around the world.
Our project portfolio includes buildings in locations such as Hawaii, the Caribbean, the United States, Panama, South Africa, Turkey, Fiji, New Caledonia and other international destinations.
Every international project introduces its own combination of:
Design requirements
Engineering requirements
Climate
Building regulations
Transportation
Customs and import procedures
Site conditions
Assembly requirements
Our experience with international projects helps us understand that manufacturing the building is only one part of the job.
Getting the building successfully from Bali to its final location is part of the job as well.

SPECIAL EXPERIENCE WITH HAWAII
Hawaii presents particular challenges for imported timber buildings because of local building requirements and the need for appropriate architectural and structural review.
Prefabworld has specific experience with Hawaiian projects and has worked with local professional support where required for code compliance and permitting.
In December 2013, our "Celeng Bali" model, measuring approximately 522 m² / 5,620 ft², received approval and a building licence for a client in Maui.
This type of experience is valuable because international building regulations cannot simply be assumed to be the same as those in Indonesia.

OVER-WATER STRUCTURES
Over-water buildings are among the more technically demanding timber projects.
The structure does not simply sit on a conventional foundation.
Piling, capping beams, structural loads, coastal conditions, connections and the relationship between the substructure and the timber superstructure all have to be considered.
Prefabworld has developed particular experience in the design of over-water wooden structures and their supporting systems.
For clients planning:
• over-water villas
• waterfront restaurants
• fishing lodges
• resort accommodation
• elevated timber buildings
we can provide specialist design and engineering assistance.

QUALITY DOES NOT END WHEN THE BUILDING LEAVES THE FACTORY
Prefabrication is intended to make construction more controlled.
Components can be manufactured, checked and prepared in a controlled environment before being shipped to the construction site.
Where appropriate, prefabrication allows components to be identified and organized before shipment, reducing uncertainty during final assembly.
Our objective is to make the transition:
DESIGN → ENGINEERING → FABRICATION → PACKING → SHIPPING → ASSEMBLY
as organized and predictable as possible.

WE STAND BEHIND OUR WORK
Buying a wooden prefabricated building is a major investment.
The relationship with the manufacturer should therefore not end when the container leaves Indonesia.
Prefabworld provides formal defects-liability provisions and a written limited warranty for qualifying products, subject to the applicable terms, installation requirements, maintenance requirements and warranty conditions.
We also provide maintenance information intended to help owners understand the requirements for keeping their wooden building in good condition.
A wooden building is a living material.
Proper installation, maintenance and environmental protection are essential to its long-term performance.
