BEACH BAR AT THE VALLEY TRUNK BAY ON PRICKLEY PEAR ISLAND
Our company, being a hurricane-rated design expert, was commissioned by a beach bar owner in the British Virgin Islands to design an almost identical copy of the unit which was completely blown away during Hurricane Irma in early September 2017 (not designed by us).
We designed the new beach bar fully in accordance with the strict local regulations. Yet, the owner demanded that we compromise on a specific essential safety aspect to save money. We did not concur and denied his request. As a result, the owner canceled the order without paying the significant outstanding balance for the design works.
The owner handed our design over to one of our competitors who gladly accepted his demand to compromise on this important safety aspect. Upon accepting they were given the order. Needless to say this new beach bar - without this important safety aspect - is a recipe for an accident to happen where a human life or life's will be at stake.
OUR COMPANY FEELS THE NEED TO ADD A SERIOUS COMMENT TO THIS UNCONTROLLED ACT OF THE CLIENT.
This is how it happens so many times. Despite a few competent and reliable companies, several knock-off companies are not interested in integrity, ethical morals, professional dedication, and in particular in protecting the client from a tragedy most probably to happen. Our company strictly adhered to the codes and regulations and as a result lost a project due to a depraved demand by a client and a company that accepted the order without the safety measures in place. We were punished by complying with the rules and regulations.
Nonetheless, our company will remain fully committed to complying with and adhering to international codes and regulations. Departing from this is not an option for us.
